Celebrate Buenos Aires’ bohemian soul partying all night long. Free the night and allow yourself some indulgences. Light up, fun mode, wine dancing into glasses, music filling the air. All set to dancers get on the floor.
A real magic experience is to go to a milonga (a tango ballroom) where people go to dance tango and most are not professional dancers though what connects them is love for tango. The perfect match for that is La Catedral Club, a warehouse space with atmospheric lighting, high ceiling, artwork lining the walls.
Not a traditional tango venue, but one of the most unique spaces in Buenos Aires, where locals go. For those interested in learning, there are tango classes for beginners everyday. From the perspective of an observer, it seemed that time was literally frozen for a while when the colourful hanging lights of decoration were mixed with music and the frenetic dancing. A furry friend, the lovely resident cat, Tita gently weaving through the dancers, reached me with a warming greeting meow. Definitely a must-go place!!!
The bohemian Dot couldn’t just go away. Too early to leave the Argentinian night behind.
Next stop: Isabel Bar, a top spot with gorgeous interiors, amazing decor, velvet curtains typical of a David Lynch movie, mirrors for walls. Great design inspired by the ceiling of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met Breuer) in New York. Indeed awesome!!! The ceiling lights change colours according to the DJ set. Beats dictate lightning.
Bartenders recommend unique cocktails based on your particular tastes. Get ready, mixology is in the air.
Slowly sipping an incredible cocktail creation with excellent sushi, it’s impossible not to be touched by the radiant atmosphere reflected from all mirrors and lights.
The toilets are exquisite, an experience in itself. You will be able to completely forget what loos are for in life. This completely mirrored loo takes you to a complete 3-D effect, where concave and convex properties make no sense at all. You can’t miss it!!!
When sun started rising in the sky, Dot caught one of those funny colourful buses in Buenos Aires named Los Colectivos and got off near a local bakery.
While enjoying typical specialties like a miga sandwich (multiple layered, made from white thin soft bread without crust, filled with ham, cheese and egg), a medialuna (sweet croissant/pastry) with a cortado (espresso with a dash of steamed milk and foam), there it was right next to the cup, resting peacefully on the saucer, a bocadito Marroc (a delicious popular Argentinian candy made of chocolate and peanut butter).
What a sweet surprise alongside the coffee!!! A perfect passionate combination!!!
Meanwhile on the radio, Tango by Vicente Alvarez and His Tropical Orchestra.
Regardless to say, that’s the best way to start your day in this lovely port city.
